Keeping Nature Notes - record what you see
Keeping nature notes is the practice of observing and recording the natural world through writing down what you’ve seen (for example flowers, birds, small mammals, and the seasonal development of trees and shrubs etc) along with the date. Keeping such notes encourages mindfulness and deepens one’s connection to nature by capturing details about plants, animals, landscapes, and seasonal changes. This process often combines scientific observation (there are many mass observation studies you can join) with personal reflections, and this often leads to a greater appreciation of the environment and better observational skills.
What about noting down what you see in the Churchyards of the parish in the 'Nature Notes' book which you will find at the back of each of the churches? Help us track what's flourishing and what's not - you may even see something rare, like this wild orchid which was spotted in Markington churchyard.
"Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these." Luke 12:27
