Eco tip for the fifth week of January

Getting cosy with a good book

January is a great month for curling up with a good book. Do you belong to a book club/group? There are several locally – all very friendly and helpful in introducing us to different authors and styles. But what is the most ecological way to consume books?

  1. Libraries have huge book collections (and are a great place to investigate local book groups)
  2. Second-hand books are available in such places as charity shops (Harrogate has an Oxfam bookshop), online (you can also sell your old books this way), loans from friends and many telephone boxes now serve as mini village libraries!
  3. Digital formats such as audio or ebooks (e.g. such as a Kindle)

Consider praying for our libraries, librarians and all those involved in writing, printing, and distributing books at a time when so much is quickly changing in this field.
