Old clothes not good enough for charity shop donation?

Most of us know about how to dispose of good quality clothing and textile items we no longer want: selling them on second hand websites like Vinted or donating them to charity shops. What can we do with items that charity shops wouldn’t want, such as serious worn or damaged clothes or our old underwear?

At our local recycling centres there are ‘mixed clothing and textile’ collection points where unsaleable items are sent for ‘ragging’ and recycling into new items such as padding for car seats. Check out your nearest donation point:
