Eco tip for the fourth week in October
Half Term Fun in a Forest
Most children (and adults) enjoy walking in forests or woodlands – there is so much to see and do:
- Observing the changing colours of the trees
- Swishing through carpets of fallen leaves
- Looking out for mushrooms and fungi and trying to identify them
- Looking for acorns or other seed/nuts and perhaps planting a few in plant pots to over-winter
Notable local woods include:
- Hackfall Wood: Hackfall - Visiting Woods - Woodland Trust
- Studley Roger Deer Park: https://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/visiting-woods/woods/studley-royal-deer-park/
- Nidd Gorge: https://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/visiting-woods/woods/nidd-gorge/
And don't forget our wonderful Forest Church on the Third Sunday of the Month!
