To reduce the carbon that goes into printing, your best bet has to be a public library (and it's free!) but second hand bookshops also offer a wonderful array of books. Have you checked out the Oxfam bookshop in Harrogate recently? 

Failing that, if you want a recently published and brand new copy your local independent bookshops are often a similar price to the online retailers and they offer so much more besides - knowledgeable advice and a chance to browse before you buy.
