# Reflecting on the Scriptures

Just Three Thoughts

Our readings this week are Genesis 1.1-2.3, Romans 8.18-25, and Matthew 6.25-34.

Just three thoughts from our readings, one from each:

From Genesis: Human beings were not here first; we came along as part of a creation that was already established.

From Romans: The creation of which we are part is not inanimate; it is a living system, capable of groaning in pain.  It is a companion, not a resource.

From Matthew: The creation around us is a source of revelation, that - if we listen to it - can teach us of the nature of God, humanity, the world, and the relationships that exist between them.

And a thread running through all three? The loving power of God to create, reconcile, and sustain.

My invitation to you this week is to sit and reflect on just one of those thoughts, and see where it leads in your understanding of our place and purpose in the world.
